Animans River Trail Mural Project, Durango, CO, 2007
A modern, visually exciting, mixed-media piece of metal, wood, colored/stained concrete, Plexiglas, and mosaic elements. The theme of the artwork is the connective energy that is the soul of both nature and mankind. Flowing through the center of the piece in the form of river waves would be mosaic elements of natural stone and tile. This central element would be continuous, energetic, and vibrant to symbolize the natural force which is the basis of human inspiration. Surrounding this central flow would be richly colored stained concrete in reference to the beautiful landscape surrounding Durango. Framing this would be a mosaic of metal panels that signify the work of mankind. Overlaying the central component would be mixed media elements suggesting the contributions of man to the global experience. Moving from the left to the right these forms would evolve from the primitive to the refined, from the past to the present..
“AMBIVALENCE”
Finalist.
Daniela. Public Art Proposal, Sculpture to be located in the Gravina Plaza, as part of the “Recovery and Urban Revitalization Project”, Portici, Naples, ITALY.
2009. It is based on the feelings and reactions evoked by, and their effect on the human expression of the opposing meanings of motion and stillness, activity and laziness, productivity and uselessness; as well as agitation and composure, frenzy and reflection, and so on. Unable to express these opposites in any cohesive manner, and left in a state of ambivalence, the artwork would be fabricated of diverse images, materials, and colors.
